This afternoon, Madeline had her 4 month check-up. The ARNP she sees (who we love) said she is a very healthy little girl. In particular, she was impressed with her neck strength and how well she can control her head. Our favorite part of the visit is always seeing how big she is. We know she has grown significantly, but we were somewhat shocked to see her measurements. She weighed in at 15 lbs 11 oz, which puts her in the 90th percentile for weight. The really crazy part was her height. She is 27 1/4 inches long, which puts her off the charts. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since Mathew and I are both far from short but thinking about the fact that she's grown 6 1/2 inches in the 4 months since she was born is unbelievable. No wonder her 6 month pants are getting a bit short, and she can wear 9 month clothes without having them hang off her. I got out my baby book to compare, and when I was 4 months, I weighed 13 lbs 12 oz and was 25 inches long. If Maddie continues at this rate, she's going to be one tall girl!
After the fun part of the visit comes the not so fun part...the shots. She had to get 3, but the nurses are awesome, got them done quickly, and handed her right to me. The worst part for me was seeing her cry. Of course, I never like to see my baby girl cry (which she really doesn't do very often), but it was the first time she has ever had tears running down her cheeks, and that made it even harder on me. However, she's a pretty tough little girl, so I was able to get her calmed down pretty quickly.
Not surprising, she hasn't been the happiest baby this evening. She isn't fussy, but she's just not her usual happy self...
And turned on her lady bug mobile...
Which got her smiling and laughing in no time...
There's our happy baby girl. Isn't that lady bug outfit adorable? It's one of my favorites, but today was probably about the last time she'll get to wear it. It's a size 6 month, but in order to get it to snap at the bottom, the neck is a bit stretched down. That's our growing girl :)
